our values and beliefs
Our values underlie our way of working and achieving our objectives. We embody our beliefs and these are reflective of our personality:
- trustworthy
- impassioned
- dynamic
- energetic
- effective
- impactful
- achievement and success-oriented
- innovative
- independent (impartial, neutral, apolitical)
- dedicated professionals
We believe that:
- Education is a child’s human right.
- All children, girls and boys alike, all adolescents, all youth, all those with special needs should have an equal chance to go to school.
- Education fosters self-confidence, self-reliance, self-respect and respect of others.
- Education provides protection, keeping vulnerable youth out of harm’s way. School offers a sense of normalcy to refugees and displaced youth and provides a secure environment in which they can overcome their past and present traumas.
- Education facilitates reintegration of displaced people into society after voluntary repatriation to their home country or integration into host countries.
- Education is vital for peace and helps to prevent future conflicts.
- Education facilitates equality amongst members of society, i.e., no second-class status.
- Primary education is not enough – it simply provides the essential skills in literacy and numeracy but does not cover the breadth and depth of learning required for one to become truly self-reliant. Availability of post-primary education increases attendance at the primary level.
- Economic and social development is dependent on an educated workforce.
- Today’s displaced youth will be tomorrow’s adults and leaders.
We call them our 10 commandments and we abide by them every day as we are inspired by the courage, the determination, the capacity to survive, and the achievements of displaced youth around the world.
